Sixth International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium

The Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau, with the support of the Historiador de la Ciudad de La Habana (the City Historian), HIVOS, ENET / ETECSA Cubasí Portal, and the collaboration of the Union of Cuban Artists and Writers (UNEAC), the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinema (ICAIC) and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (National Fine Arts Museum), announces the VI Salón y Coloquio Internacional de Arte Digital (Sixth International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium) with the purpose of promoting artistic and cultural values created with new technologies.

The Art Exhibit, which will open on June 21, 2004, will once again show the current work in this field and favor exchange and reflection among creators and specialists engaged in these new forms of expression.

The event covers two areas; the National Art Exhibit, of a competitive nature, and a non-competitive On-Line International Art Exhibit, where works by artists from other countries will be shown.

A US$50 fee is required from all participants in the International Colloquium. Participants from abroad will pay their inscription fee to the International Digital Art Colloquium at the Centro when the event begins.

Convocatoria Internacional El Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau, con el auspicio de la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad de la Habana, HIVOS y el Portal Cubasí de ENET / ETECSA y la colaboración de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, el Instituto de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos y el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, convoca al VI Salón y Coloquio Internacional de Arte Digital con el objetivo de promover los valores artísticos y culturales generados a través de las nuevas tecnologías. El Salón, que será inaugurado el 21 de junio del año 2004, se propone continuar mostrando el trabajo que se realiza actualmente en este campo y propiciar el intercambio y la reflexión entre los creadores y especialistas relacionados con estas nuevas formas de expresión. El evento comprende dos áreas: el Salón Nacional que tiene carácter competitivo y Salón Internacional On line, donde exhibirán sus obras artistas de otros países, y que no tiene carácter competitivo. COLOQUIO INTERNACIONAL ARTE DIGITAL: LENGUAJES Y POETICAS Paralelamente al evento se realizará, entre el 22 y el 24 de junio, un Coloquio Internacional que se propone debatir los alcances y las limitaciones de estas nuevas formas de creación artística a partir de estos temas generales: Retos y técnicas del arte digital Arte digital, tradición y originalidad ¿Nuevos lenguajes, nuevas temáticas? Las presentaciones y ponencias deberán ser enviadas al Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau utilizando el formulario que se encuentra en: www.centropablo.cult.cu/form/formulariocoloquio.htm antes del 1 de mayo del 2004. La cuota general de inscripción para el Coloquio Internacionales de 50 USD. Los participantes de otros países abonarán su cuota de inscripción al Coloquio Internacional de Arte Digital en la sede del Centro, al inicio del evento. INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM Digital Art: Languages and Poetics An International Colloquium will be held on June 22-24 to discuss the scope and limitations of these new forms of artistic creation. Discussion will be based on the following topics: Challenges and Techniques of Digital Art Digital Art, Tradition and Originality New Languages, New Subjects?
